परिचय | About Me
Malvica has devoted over nineteen years to the disciplined study, practice, and performance of Hindustānī śāstrīya saṅgīta. Deeply rooted in the guru-śiṣya paramparā, her musical journey reflects a sincere commitment to preserving the purity, depth, and aesthetic richness of the classical tradition while simultaneously exploring meaningful artistic dialogue across cultures and musical worlds.
Beyond formal training, Malvica’s artistic identity has been profoundly shaped by a life immersed in spirituality and contemplative practice. From the age of seven, she spent eighteen formative years at the Art of Living International Center, Bengaluru - growing up amidst an environment steeped in meditation, service, sacred wisdom traditions, and inner enquiry. She was also blessed with the rare fortune of being spiritually nurtured under the guidance and presence of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji, whose teachings and vision left a lasting imprint on her artistic vision and expression.
Surrounded from an early age by spiritual learning, music, and an atmosphere of inward reflection, Malvica came to experience music not merely as performance, but as sādhana — a pathway towards inner stillness, self-discovery, and collective harmony. This spiritual foundation continues to inform her eloquent prowess, where music becomes both offering and experience.
A performer with extensive national and international experience, Malvica views music as a medium for connection, contemplation, and transformation. Her artistic endeavour seeks to create immersive sonic experiences that evoke śānti, introspection, and emotional resonance.
Academically, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (Honours) from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi and a Master’s degree in Composition and Performance from California Institute of the Arts, USA. Her interdisciplinary grounding in philosophy and music deeply informs her creative practice, enabling her compositions to engage with themes of Consciousness, human emotion, contemplative states, inner transformation, harmony and wellbeing.
As a composer, Malvica weaves together philosophical inquiry, contemplative elements, and emotional depth with the aspiration of communicating states of flow, peace, and inward reflection. Alongside her classical practice, she actively seeks collaborations across traditions and genres, fostering musical dialogues while remaining firmly rooted in the lineage and aesthetics of Indian classical music.
Her artistic journey has been further recognised through several prestigious honours and fellowships. Malvica has been an Empanelled Artist with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations since 2020, reflecting her role in representing Indian culture and music on national and international platforms. She is also a recipient of the CCRT Scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2021–2023), and the prestigious Citi–NCPA Scholarship under the guru-śiṣya paramparā Scheme (2022–2024).
As a practitioner and representative of Pt. Nayan Ghosh ji’s lineage, Malvica continues her pursuit of artistic refinement with the aspiration of serving Indian classical music in its truest and purest form.
